Kathryn E. Stoddard is executive vice president, human resources and organizational development, for Assurant Solutions, one of four specialty insurance businesses that make up Assurant, Inc. Her management responsibilities include human resources, organizational development and corporate and marketing communications.
Ms. Stoddard joined Assurant Solutions in January 2001. She previously served as vice president, Executive Development, for Fortis, Inc., which was renamed Assurant, Inc. in 2004.
Ms. Stoddard began her career with Fortis in 1983 in the marketing department for Superior Insurance Company. In 1990, she joined Fortis Family as vice president, Sales Support and Strategic Business Unit Manager. In 1994, she became assistant vice president and director of Executive Development for Fortis, Inc. Ms. Stoddard began her career in 1977 as a district office manager in Grand Rapids, Mich., for U.S. Rep. Harold Sawyer before she moved on to Prudential Insurance Company where she was an underwriting supervisor before joining Fortis.
Ms. Stoddard holds an Associate of Arts degree from the University of South Florida. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in 1975 from the University of Florida, College of Journalism and Communications, and an MBA from Georgia State University in 1990.
